Termite Season is in Full Swing

Termite Control Woodstock GASpring is truly in full swing in the Atlanta area and it is beautiful but there is a downside. A long winter and late spring means termite season is a little late this year. But as the temperatures climb, termites are on the move and starting to migrate and move to new places. We are also receiving reports of termite swarms throughout the North Atlanta area.

Here are some things you may not know about termites:

  • Termites can squeeze through as small of an opening as 1/64th of an inch crack.
  • Termites resemble ants, but they are actually more closely related to cockroaches.
  • Worker and soldier termites are blind because they spend their lives in the dark.
  • Female queen termites lay one egg every 15 seconds.

The first step to see if you have a termite infestation is for homeowners to check their home for termites, checking baseboards, window trim or door trim that’s been damaged. Odds are, if it disintegrates in your hands, the termites have gotten to it.

The problem is most termite damage is not this obvious and requires an inspection by a Pest Control Professional to be spotted. Once you see crumbling woods the infestation is extensive and could require costly repairs.

This is why we recommend an annual termite inspection. With the prevalence of termites in Georgia, including the Woodstock and Kennesaw areas, anyone who does not have an annual inspection to see if there are any of these wood eating pests in their home is putting themselves at risk. The damage caused by termites is real and can be costly to repair and may have consequences you may not have even considered.
